We are working to change the future! Hotel Serivces Management Solutions [HSMS] is proud to be part of a working group that is actively moving to change the future of food service in aged and community care. HSMS Director, Ellis Wilkinson, formed a group of like-minded people in 2013 that include South Australia's famed celebrity chef, Simon Bryant, as well as Dr Sandra Ullrich from the University of SA and long standing industry professional, Trevor Cook. Our aim is to raise the profile of chefs in the industry as well as developing a point of difference by introducing specific curriculum that sets them apart from other chefs. Aged care food service must go through a revolution, it must move with the changes that have been forced, not only by government but by the expectations of the residents now. Let's also not forget the fast approaching baby boomer influx. Our first goal, raising aged care chefs profiles, started with our inclusion in Tasting Australia 2014, where we tasked some of SA's finest aged care chefs with a cooking competition, this proved to be a great success, gaining some great media coverage. We were also blessed to have a discussion panel at Tasting Australia...headline topic, the chefs, the skills and the need for change!
